Adapted from of the original stage musical of the exact same name, The Deb was created in partnership with Rebel Wilson’s Camp Sugar Productions and Australian producer Bunya Productions. When her negative city cousin Maeve (Charlotte MacInnes) is exiled to Taylah’s drought-stricken community Dunburn, she believes the sphere is regressive and disrupts the standing quo. But in their search for the limelight, Taylah and Maeve dig deep to discover self-acceptance, and a day to the Deborah.
Wilson told the TIFF target market the idea to guide her very own flick came as she dealt with Universal and Working Title’s adjustment of Felines, with the Australian star playing as component of song and dancing numbers Jennyanydots in the feature.
